What To Know About This Production
Wicked: The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz takes place before L.Frank Baum’s
classic Wizard of Oz story ever began. Before Dorothy was even alive, two young
girls met in the Land of Oz, became rivals, and then friends. One was born with
emerald green skin, with a brilliant mind and a fiery spirit. The other was
classically beautiful, with great ambition and incredible drive.
The green-skinned Elphaba was ostracized by her family and by everyone at school.
The beautiful Galinda was destined to be forever popular.
Over the course of Wicked, we discover how these two young women became rivals
and then the closest of friends – and how they ended up as the Wicked Witch of the
West and Glinda the Good.
The story pays homage to the classic Wizard of Oz story while simultaneously
changing our understanding of it forever. A cautionary tale about love, friendship
and trust, Wicked explores contemporary moral dilemmas such as tolerance and
prejudice, and political themes including media manipulation and government
corruption. It seamlessly integrates these modern socio-political themes with
contemporary music and references to the Wizard of Oz to leave the audience
spellbound.
Wicked effortlessly reveals that there are indeed two sides to every story.
It’s all about perspective…

- G(a)linda Female 18-35 Glinda is a complex character, nowhere near as superficial as she seems at first She is as cunning as she is bubbly, a passionate, popular and loveable individual who uses her intelligence and social standing to manipulate her colleagues and friends Becoming known as Glinda the Good, she also wrestles with the disparity between her social and moral values Vocally, Glinda requires a high soprano and vocal belt and a strong sense of comic timing An understudy will be selected for G(a)linda and will perform two shows
- Madame Morrible Female 30-65 Madame Morrible is a dark, conniving and cunning character Highly manipulative, seductive and inherently evil, she has no internal conflict as to the nature of her character She has a strong understanding of the power of fear and machinations of public propaganda Morrible requires a very strong, confident and powerful performer
