What To Know About This Production

This stirring musical depicts the hopes and aspirations of actual passengers on board the ill-fated ship, from the wealthy and powerful in first class, to the ambitious middle-class passengers, to the poor immigrants in steerage – all thrilled to be part of this historic voyage, hopeful for the future, and blissfully unaware of the tragedy ahead. TITANIC premiered on Broadway in April 1997, eight months before the well-known film of the same name. It went on to become a huge success, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical and thrilling audiences for its depiction of a defining moment in 20th-century history. The RMS Titanic was unlike any ship that had come before, a marvel of engineering and a powerful symbol of progress – until its deadly collision with an iceberg turned it into a representation of hubris and human frailty.

TITANIC is directed and choreographed for Theatre UP by Artistic Director Andrew Lidestri with music direction by Shoshana Lieberman.

Auditions For Titanic, the Musical

What To Expect At Auditions

Auditions will be held from 6 - 9 pm on Wednesday, February 18th and 6 - 7:30 pm on Thursday, February 19th at the Littleton Opera House (2 Union Street, Littleton, NH 03561). Callbacks will be held at the same location after auditions on February 19th as needed.

Looking to Cast auditionees aged 18+.

After submitting the audition signup form, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your specific audition time (a five minute block within the time range you select).

What to prepare:

Auditionees are asked to prepare a short song they know well, preferably from classical or contemporary musical theatre repertoire.
(The standard length of an audition song is roughly 16 bars. Think of this as one verse or one minute. In the interest of time, longer auditions will probably be cut short. Please bring sheet music.)

Singing with accompaniment is required, and an accompanist will be provided. Please look for sheet music that has a melody line for you and accompaniment written out underneath. The pianist will not be able to improvise songs for you.

Actors may be asked to read from the script.

Fast Tracking:

Fast track auditions are intended to save time in the auditioning and casting process. UP makes a firm commitment to show no favoritism amongst its performers or production teams.

For Titanic Fast Tracking: Auditionees may request consideration for a fast track audition if they have performed in an UP musical in the current or prior season, if the directors (music and acting) of that production are the same as the directors of this production, and if the auditionee sang more than one solo line in that production.

Fast Tracking Requests will be approved solely at the discretion of the director.
To request fast tracking email andrew@theatreupnh.org

If you have already been approved for fast tracking, please follow the instructions in your confirmation email.

Community Theatre

UP is a community theatre that strives for excellence. Experience is not needed to audition or be cast in our productions, although some shows require specific skills. We often teach as we go. We are friendly and welcoming and want you to succeed, so please don't be nervous! We do not subscribe to favoritism and we cast based solely on the best decisions for the production.

We recommend completing the audition signup process on a computer rather than on a mobile device.
