What To Know About This Production
When down-on-his-luck producer Max Bialystock and his nervous accountant Leo Bloom realize they could make more money from a flop than a hit, they set out to create the worst musical in Broadway history. The problem is that their guaranteed disaster becomes a sensation, and suddenly the scam of the century turns into a full-scale theatrical train wreck in the best possible way. What follows is a gloriously unhinged parade of bad ideas, big personalities, and laugh-out-loud chaos.

What To Expect At Auditions
Itβs big, itβs bold, itβs outrageously funny and Waco Civic Theatre is ready to bring the comedy gold to life with a cast that is not afraid to go all in.

Cast List For Mel Brooks' The Producers
Available Roles
- Leo Bloom Mousy accountant Leopold Bloom has his world turned upside-down when he gets mixed up with Max Bialystock Sheltered and shy, Leo is incapable of standing up for himself He is prone to bouts of anxiety and hysterics that can only be cured with the comfort of his blue blanket, which he keeps on his person at all times He has harbored a secret desire to live the glamorous and important life of a Broadway producer ever since he saw one of Maxs productions as a child (Leo is, then, quite a bit younger than Max) Despite his weaknesses, he is very smart, and it is he who formulates the hypothesis that one could make more money off a failed production than a successful one (though, of course, it is not his idea to turn it into an actual scheme)
- Max Bialystock Though Max was once an iconic Broadway producer, he hasnt had a successful show in years and is now the laughingstock of the industry he once dominated Clinging desperately to his former glory, he survives through a combination of sheer bravado and outright deception Dishonest and greedy but undeniably charismatic and confident, Max is a master manipulator who knows exactly how to get what he wants His most infamous tacticromancing wealthy elderly women to fund his productionshighlights both his moral flexibility and his theatrical flair Beneath his bombastic exterior lies a man deeply afraid of failure, masking insecurity with exaggerated ego and relentless energy
- Ulla Ulla (whose full name is Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yonsen Tallen-Hallen Svaden-Svanson) is an aspiring actress from Sweden who becomes Leo and Maxs secretary Blonde, leggy, and supermodel-gorgeous, she turns heads everywhere she goes with her natural sensuality She is also, however, pretty clueless, and she also doesnt speak much English She develops a crush on Leo and ends up marrying him when they run away to Rio together
- Franz Liebkind Franz is an ex-Nazi immigrant, living in Greenwich Village He is very stereotypically German, wearing lederhosen and a helmet, and his closest friends are his eight pet pigeons (one of whom is named Adolf) He has written a play to glorify Hitler, which Max and Leo procure the rights to because they believe it to be the worst play ever written Franz is also slated to play Hitler in the production, but breaks his leg just before opening night The role requires more comedy than vocal ability, and an exaggerated German accent is needed
- Roger De Bris Roger De Bris is an ostentatious director who thinks himself to be Gods gift to Broadway In reality, he has a terrible reputation and couldnt even direct you to the bathroom, which is exactly why Max and Leo get him to direct their production of Springtime for Hitler He is very flamboyantly homosexual and lives not only with his common-law assistant Carmen Ghia, but also with the rest of his production team in his Upper East Side townhouse When Franz breaks his leg on opening night, it is Roger who takes over the role of Hitler
- Carmen Carmen Ghia is Rogers very eccentric (and very stereotypically gay) common-law assistant He has very discerning taste and a constant air of judgment His signature uniform is a chic black turtleneck and long silver necklace He is very devoted to Roger, and supports him in his ostentatious endeavors Character actor with strong comedic chops, and must be able to deliver hilarious lines in an absolute serious deadpan
- Mr Marks Mr Marks is Leos cruel and domineering boss at the Whitehall Marks accounting firm Rude, sadistic, and overbearing, he relishes in humiliating his employees and keeping them all firmly under his iron fist In Leos I Wanna Be a Producer daydream sequence, it is Marks who comes out to serve him champagne
- Hold-Me-Touch-Me Hold-Me-Touch-Me is the most featured of the Little Old Ladies She is one of Maxs backers and loves to play dirty games with him She features prominently with speaking lines in the first scene in Maxs office, and then sings some solo in Along Came Bialy
- Bag Lady Sings in a small chorus during The King of Broadway

- Kevin Rogers costume designer, a member of his flamboyant creative team that lives with him in his Upper East Side townhome
- Bryan Rogers set designer, a member of his flamboyant creative team that lives with him in his Upper East Side townhome
- Stormtrooper The Stormtrooper is the lead male singer in Springtime for Hitler and opens the number with a good amount of solo singing He will likely double other roles throughout the show
- Usherettes The Usherettes are two pretty young women who work at the theater at the top of the show, when Maxs production of Funny Boy is being premiered They sing together in Opening Night
- Prison Trustee The Trustee is a prison worker who delivers the good news to Max, Leo, and Franz that they are being pardoned and are free to leave
