What To Know About This Production

We are excited to announce the SVHS 2026 Spring Musical, the Broadway classic Guys & Dolls. Auditions are open to all SVHS students in good standing (minimum 2.0 GPA and no serious behavior interventions). If you've ever wanted to sing, dance, and act - this is your chance! We're still performing in D7, but big things are happening in the Little Theater!

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Create an account on Cast98 and REFRESH the page!
  2. Sign up for the dance audition (required for all students)
  3. Sign up for ONE day/ONE slot for the singing/acting audition
  4. Prepare the required AUDITION MATERIALS which can be found in the shared folder. It is totally fine if you just prepare ONE song and ONE monologue that feels good to you. We will consider you for any role you’re interested in or that we feel you are good for regardless of what you perform at the auditions! You are welcome to do a second, contrasting piece as well. Characters

  • Nicely-Nicely Johnson - Male, Tenor, B5-D4, some light dancing Just like his name suggests, he is the nicest and cheeriest of the gambling crooks High-spirited and a bit nave, but sincere and genuine Nathans loyal friend and lackey
  • Benny Southstreet - Male, Baritone, G5-D4, some light dancing Nathans right-hand man and a gambler himself Smart, slick, always moving and shaking, but with what he thinks are Nathans best interests at heart
  • Sarah Brown - Female, Soprano to High A, G5-B3, some light dancing Sergeant of the local Mission Idealistic, sheltered, and straightlaced, she is passionate about her cause and wishes to convert the gambling sinners to saints Falls unexpectedly in love with gambler Sky Masterson along the way
  • Arvide Abernathy - Male (or female), Baritone, F5 D4 The cymbal player in the Mission band, he is Sarahs loving grandfather (could be grandmother) Wise and sweet, he wants nothing but the best for her
  • Harry The Horse - Male, Bass-baritone, G5-F3, some light dancing A crook and gambler He is a tough guy with dollar signs as his bottom line Brings Big Jule into Nathans craps game and backs his cheating, but is also a man of his word in the gambling community
  • Lt Brannigan - Male, mainly a speakinhg role (only sings at the end with the whole cast) A New York police officer who is on to Nathans illegal craps games and is dead-set on catching him A tough, no-nonsense character
  • Nathan Detroit - Male, High tenor-tenor, F5-D4, some light dancing A broke but good-hearted gambler and craps game organizer who could never hit the big time He loves Adelaide, but cannot quit his gambling ways
  • Miss Adelaide - Female, Mezzo, F5 A3, must be able to do some dancing Nathans fianc and a lead performer at the Hot Box nightclub She loves Nathan more than anything in the world and desperately wants to get married
  • Sky Masterson - Male, Baritone-counter tenor, E5-B3, some light dancing A high-stakes gambler whose luck never seems to run out, and a wild card who surprises himself when he falls in love with missionary Sarah Brown Suave, smart, handsome
  • Big Jule - Male, bass-baritone, G5-F3, might do some light dancingmovement A big-time craps player from Chicago who uses a gun and his own pair of rigged dice to bully his way into never losing Tough but not the sharpest knife in the block Must be taller than Nathan or comically shorter than Nathan
  • Mission Band - 3 to 5 men and women who sing with Sarah No dancing
  • Hot Box Girls Gamblers (dancers) - 6 to 8 dancers, must also sing, will dance in the Hot Box numbers and the Crapshooters Dance May also appear as extras in other scenes
  • Salsa Dancers - 4 dancers for the Havana scene (no singing) could be two couples doing partner dancing or 4 solo dancers
  • Extras - Some of these roles have a few lines, some dont Rusty Charlie, Angie the Ox, and other crap shooters General Matilda B Cartwright The Hot Box Master of Ceremonies Waiter in Havana Etc
