Rainbow Youth Theatre provides family-oriented theatre opportunities that build creativity, confidence, and community.
Founded in 1988, RYT has been a part of the Comox Valley arts community for decades, creating a space where young people can grow, take risks, and be part of something bigger than themselves. We bring together performers ages 6–14 in an environment that focuses on learning, mentorship, and collaboration, where experienced performers support those just starting out, and everyone has a place to belong.
Each summer, we produce a show, giving youth the chance to spend their days working together toward something real. Rehearsals run throughout August in a structured, high-energy environment where kids are not just learning lines and choreography, but building communication skills, responsibility, and confidence that carry far beyond the stage. Our focus is not just the final performance, but the experience of getting there.
RYT is a volunteer-driven, non-profit society committed to keeping theatre accessible to local families. We work hard to keep costs as low as possible, offer bursaries, and create opportunities both on stage and behind the scenes. Whether someone is performing, helping backstage, or supporting the production, they are part of a team working toward something meaningful.
At its core, RYT is about connection. It is about showing up, working together, and creating something you can be proud of.
