About The Studio Babirra Music Theatre
BABIRRA Music Theatre is a non-professional music theatre company committed to excellence in musical theatre. We perform two musicals a year as well as the occasional concert or special event throughout the year.
We are a non profit organisation bound by our constitution to produce and stage works of musical theatre, operetta, concerts and other forms of live performance, for the mutual enjoyment of audiences and participants, thereby providing opportunities for community members to be involved in all aspects of productions, both on-stage and off-stage.
Babirra rehearses at the Highfield Road Uniting Church, Canterbury and we currently perform at the Karralyka Theatre in Ringwood, Victoria. Every show produced has a minimum of 12 weeks rehearsal period with 2 to 3 rehearsals per week. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
A part of Babirra’s charter is to provide quality entertainment at economical prices, providing enjoyable performance participation for our members as well as being the springboard for future careers. We have launched many successful careers in Performance, Scenic Design, Lighting and Staging.
We are members of the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria, the Lyrebird Awards, and Arts Nunawading.
