What To Know About This Production
WE BEEN KNEW is a funny, soulful one-act stage play about four Black women, one living room, and the kind of honesty that only shows up after the second glass of wine.
What starts as a typical girls’ night (shopping bags, jokes, side-eyes, and unspoken rules), quickly turns into a truth-telling circle when each woman reveals a deeply personal secret. From identity and illness to marriage, money, and the exhausting expectation to always be “the strong one,” every confession is met not with shock, but with recognition. Because the truth is—they already knew.
Blending sharp comedy, music, and ritual, WE BEEN KNEW celebrates the sacred space of the sister circle: the rare place where women can take the cape off, tell the truth without judgment, and be held exactly as they are. A surprise cameo adds humor and perspective, underscoring the play’s central insight that women are often each other’s safest witnesses.
