What To Know About This Production
OUR PRODUCTION
For our production of The Lightning Thief TYA, we are aiming to create a fast-paced, imaginative world that blends ancient mythology with a modern rock feel. We want to use a dedicated Greek Chorus of five performers who work as their own team to bring the mythological monsters to life through movement, voice, and puppetry. Alongside them, our main ensemble of Camp Half-Blood kids will help transform the stage in real time, shifting scenery and props to create the sense of constant adventure the story needs. Ensemble members will be expected to sing.
We also hope to involve youth members in several off-stage roles throughout the production. There are opportunities to assist with props, backstage crew, sound, lighting, and helping manage the puppets used by the Greek Chorus. These roles are an important part of bringing the show to life, and are a chance to learn new skills, work alongside our creative team, and experience what it takes to run a live theatre production.
CAST:
This is a Mildura Theatre Company youth production for cast members aged 10+. You must be at this age at the time of the first show on the 24th May
Those 18+ will need a Working with Children’s Card.
EXTRA REQUIREMENTS:
As a part of being part of the show, cast members will not only rehearse the show but also assist with a production task to help create the show, whether it be helping with sets, costumes, props, advertising etc.
