Young Will Shakespeare is in crisis. The deadline for his new play is fast approaching, the theater company is counting on him, and his quill has run dry. Paralyzed by writer's block and desperately in need of inspiration, Will finds himself adrift — until a chance encounter changes everything. Viola, a feisty, brilliant, and beautiful young woman with a passion for the theater that rivals Will's own, will stop at nothing — including disguising herself as a man to defy the laws of the day — to appear on stage in his next production.
