What To Know About This Production
Anastasia follows the journey of a young woman named Anya who suffers from amnesia. Set against the backdrop of post-revolutionary Russia and 1920s Paris, the musical is inspired by the legend of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov. Guided by two con men, Dmitry and Vlad, Anya embarks on a journey to convince the Dowager Empress in Paris that she is her granddaughter, the long-lost Anastasia. Throughout her journey, Anya faces danger, romance, and self-discovery. The musical blends historical events with adventure, featuring a mixture of heartfelt ballads, lively musical numbers, and a strong ensemble.

Characters
- Anya A lost soul, but one with great strength, pride, determination, and dignity. As the story progresses, she begins to discover her sense of self and the possibility that she may be the missing daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. Range: G3-F5, Belt to D5
- Dimitry An opportunist trying to make it on the streets of Russia by selling stolen objects from the Tsarist past. He creates the scheme to find an Anastasia impersonator to gain the reward for her safe return. He’s tough, persuasive, and daring. Range: A2-G4
- Dowager Empress Formidable and imperious grandmother of Anastasia. Anastasia is her favorite grandchild, and she loves her with all her heart. She never gives up the belief that her granddaughter might be alive, but after years of impersonators attempting to steal the inheritance, she becomes bitter and hardened. Range: F3-Bb4
- Gleb Son of the Russian Revolution. As a career officer in the Bolshevik secret police, he is a passionate defender of the hard-won gains of the new order. His attraction to Anya puts him in violent conflict with himself. Which will he choose? Range: A2-Gb4
- Vlad Dmitry’s right-hand man, and because of his past romantic relationship with Lily, arranges a meeting between Anya and the Dowager Empress. Range: A2-F4
- Lily the confidante and lady-in-waiting to the Dowager Empress. She’s compassionate, respectful, and good at her job, but also delightful and worldly when she’s not with the Dowager. Range: G3-C5
