What To Know About This Production
Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre proudly presents Roald Dahl’s Matilda Jr.
Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs, and unforgettable characters, Matilda Jr. tells the inspiring story of a little girl with big dreams, extraordinary courage, and a touch of magic.
This award winning adaptation of the smash hit Broadway musical will be performed by Ottawa’s rising young starts in a professional-quality youth production.
Auditions for Matilda Jr. are open to students in grades 4-12 who are ready to sing, dance, and act on stage. No prior theatre experience is required-just enthusiasm, dedication, and a love for performing!

What To Expect At Auditions
What To Prepare:
Performers are required to prepare and preform a 24-32 bar musical theatre excerpt (from the selections provided OR your own).
We encourage students to audition with a British accent if possible.
Voice Placement Guides:
Auditionees aged 8 - 13 years, please sing from the ‘younger voice’ selection.
Auditionees aged 14+ years, please sing from the ‘older voice’ section.
Music
Choose from our Matilda Jr. selections OR bring your own sheet music to the audition day in the correct key (accompaniment provided)
Acting
Review one of the short Matilda Jr. monologues/sides provided.
Memorization is NOT required.
Dance
All performers must learn the group dance combination.
We strongly suggest you learn the dance combination BEFORE auditions
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in.

Tips & Tricks:
Act the song – don’t just sing.
Big expressions & clear voices.
Keep movement strong & simple.
